Mentor

Have the savvy and expertise to be a mentor; or need to find one? PDX11’s Mentor Program was designed to help you. The program encourages growth in the software segment of Oregon’s economy by building bridges between successful software executives and the entrepreneurs and young professionals who really need their insight and guidance.

This is done in a number of ways – monthly meetings starring local thought leaders addressing topics of interest, and a thriving LinkedIn community to share events, articles, and other resources for the software crowd. With the support of local mentors, participants have launched several startups and found expertise within the network to help build their businesses. Some have located a co-founder, and many have tapped into the best Open Source talent the West Coast has to offer.

A community project is on the way soon which embodies a tangible measure of this success – a mentor-matching software engine. This was created in a new kind of collaboration that brought together the open source community and the business mentor community. The streamlined system uses weighted criteria for better matchmaking. You will be able to access the engine right here in Techlandia and get started with your next mentoring project.

Check back here soon for an intelligent dialog to sign up as a mentor or mentee.
